Free Ballet Tips

My name is Miss J and I have been a ballet student since the age of three until today...I am still learning! I have always found that ballet is an intense and highly detailed art that I will always continue to learn more about. I hope you will join our email tip group so that you can come along and learn from me as I continue to learn more about classical ballet.

I have been a ballet teacher for 11 years and I studied dance at the University of Kansas. I have had the amazing opportunity in my years as a dancer and a teacher to study under gifted professional dancers/teachers from several different companies and universities from all over the United States and abroad. As a dancer I was blessed with the opportunity to dance with a non-profit ballet company in which I was a member of the corps de ballet, as well as a soloist, and a principal dancer. I later became an Assistant Artistic Director of the same non-profit ballet company for 3 years before I had to move, and I have also had experience directing a group of 40 dancers myself with a focus on dancing as a form of worship.

I believe that a dancer must be focused and committed to his/her art through detailed study of the "rules" of ballet. The rules of technique must permeate the dance but without sacrificing artistry. Allow your personality and talent to shine through your good technique and this will help make you a dancer that people love to have as a student and love to watch perform!
